The name misleads people. Its street address puts Great Canadian Casino Vancouver in Coquitlam: 2080 United Boulevard, Coquitlam, BC V3K 6W3. From central New Westminster it is 5.9 km in a straight line between two map points. That is not a road distance. By that measure, it comes second closest of the nine Metro Vancouver casinos covered here, behind Starlight.
Hours work differently here. The casino publishes live table hours only: Monday to Thursday 10AM to 4AM, then from Friday 10AM straight through to Monday 4AM. It does not publish general opening hours for the whole floor. Starlight, by contrast, is open 24 hours a day, every day of the year.
Inside sit over 920 slots, along with 42 electronic table machines and 37 games at live tables. A live table has a human dealer; an electronic table machine is a screen version of a table game. There are also Privé high-limit rooms for slots and for tables, meaning separate areas for larger bets. Starlight lists 54 live table games and more than 935 slots, so it runs more live tables.
Before you walk in
- You must be 19 or older. At the door, security scans every visitor's government-issued photo ID, and no personal details are kept for those allowed in.
- Poker players get 10 tables here, three more than Starlight's seven. Hours for the poker room: 10AM to 4AM from Monday to Thursday, and round the clock from Friday to Sunday.
- Four spots serve food: Gordon Ramsay Burger, Rock House Grill, Chopsticks Noodle House and the Asylum pub. Asylum also has free live music on Friday and Saturday at 9PM.
- Encore Rewards is the loyalty programme, a membership card offered to guests. The room also has its own stage, The Show Theatre.
- Ownership and operation passed on May 5, 2026 to Petroglyph Development Group, a company that Snuneymuxw First Nation owns. The Great Canadian name is used under a limited licence.
